WE ARE A COMMUNITY OF LOCAL, INDEPENDENT BUSINESS OWNERS

Founded in 2014, the Oakland Indie Alliance (OIA) is a community of more than 400 small-scale entrepreneurs who have united under a common goal of preserving Oakland’s variety, energy, and social fabric. Through sharing experiences, connections, and advocating for Oakland’s independent economy, OIA helps and supports small businesses to thrive.

We support our indies in four key ways

  1. Camaraderie at the heart of the small business community is connection, we create the space for indie owners to connect and share resources

  2. Marketing through our Keep it Oakland Campaign.

  3. Advocacy we work closely with BIDs, the City of Oakland , and other nonprofits.

  4. Fundraising with partners and community donations to provide direct aid to our small business community with our initiatives such as the Repair Fund, Covid-19 Fund and Parklet Program.
